Would you approve this new Nike ad? It’s an elegantly simple commercial of a 12-year-old boy running at the camera. The boy weighs 200 pounds. He is not your typical advertising model. There is no editing and there are no edits. There is no big music. This is not your typical ad for Nike. But it is oh so effective at slicing through the clutter.
Even though Nike is not one of the official sponsors of the Olympics, Nike sure looks like it to me. Greatness in advertising. Would you have the courage to approve this ad? Nike doesn’t mention a product. It doesn’t tell you when or where to buy Nike products. It doesn’t talk about quality. It doesn’t talk about price. What this ad does is move you emotionally. Find your marketing greatness. And then approve the concept.
