In Iowa, we have new gun-carrying laws. So many organizations and businesses immediately posted large “No Guns Allowed” signs on doors. These are placed right next to the “No Smoking” signs.
Usually these signs are large and prominently placed. The problem I have is that it seems like we know more about the smoking and gun policies, but little about the brand. Have you ever heard about first impressions? Well, how does this impression make people feel about your organization?
The real question is, why wouldn’t you post your brand promise on your door rather than your smoking policy?
It is time to let people know more about your brand than your regulations. Take down the policy signs and uplift your brand. Speaking of that, this blog must remain open during normal business hours.

Thanks for this reminder of what should be so very obvious! Duh!
Just ate at Newton’s Cafe in Waterloo. On their door was a simple sticker with the buy fresh buy local logo on it. There is a good example of a policy sticker that hehlps brand their business.
I know the other signs are required, but it sure seems like the “buy fresh” is a great example of of how the brand message should be in as prominent a place as the no smoking sign.
